All you cleaners out there...HELP!

Okay so I need some help/advice.  We have a bathroom in our house that hardly ever gets used so I don't clean the toilet near as often as I clean the toilet we use. I am probably one of the cheapest people on the planet (ask my family, they think it's funny because I really am kind of OCD about being cheap when it comes to certain things) SO, I have refused to do the whole soft water thing cause quite frankly I don't care to have hard water....Until I have to scrub the toilet that is never used and there is this ring that I can't scrub away! It looks like the toilet is always dirty even right after I scrub it because of the hard water ring..... I am an avid cleaner, I LOVE cleaning, but when it comes to that darn toilet I can't get the stupid hard water stain off so I leave feeling unsatisfied everytime! I've tried comet, clorox, those hard scrubbing pads.  Those of you out there who have hard water, HOW DO YOU CLEAN HARD WATER STAINS? HELP!

  1. Put a can of coke in the toilet, let it sit for an hour and then scrub. If that doesn't work, use a pumice stone.

  2. Is there lime away for toilet bowls? I think that is what Dave used on the toilet for the rental house, when it desperately needed some help, and it worked amazing!!! I'll have to double check with Dave, cuz whatever it was was awesome!

  3. pour in a cup or more of diluted white distilled vinegar and let it sit several hours or overnight. Scrub well with the toilet brush and flush. i did it with one of our toilets and it worked really well!

  4. I turn the valve to the toilet off while I flush it to get the water out then I put some CLR in it and let it set on for a few minutes then scrub it off and turn the water back on it it. I have also wiped it out to get the water off before hand so that that CLR will stick to it better. If that doesn't work I sell some cleaner that takes hard water stains off. (I work at a Plumbing Supply) I also would think about getting a water softener because it will help ALL your plumbing fixtures (faucets, toilets, sinks) last 10times longer! Sorry for the novel
